My 5 Favourite {Special} Hong Kong Restaurants

I’m going to keep this series of Hong Kong restaurant posts relatively short & sweet since I have written full reviews for most of the restaurants. This post features my favourite special...

Tao, Pan-Asian Love

I recently had the pleasure of eating at one of the best restaurants that I’ve been to in a long time, Tao in New York. It’s a true “modern pan-Asian” restaurant in everything from the décor to the dishes, and despite its...

Aqua, A New Favourite

So, just in case you missed the memo repeated in many a previous post, Aqua is my favourite restaurant in Hong Kong. Having visited for dinner 5 times now and experienced their incredible value bottomless brunch, I can honestly say that the standard at Aqua is...

Lung King Heen: 3-Michelin Starred Chinese

Lung King Heen is the first Chinese restaurant in the world to have been awarded the coveted Michelin 3-star rating and the only Chinese restaurant in Hong Kong to hold all 3; is ranked the 10th best restaurant in Asia and 20th best in the world, according to the respective Forbes 50 Best Lists...

Hutong: The Very Best “Western-Chinese”

In the midst of a torrential downpour Josie & I braved the slippery streets of HK on a mission to make it to Hutong on time for our dinner reservation. As part of the Aqua restaurant group, and having heard only good things about the northern-Chinese restaurant both in London and Hong Kong...

Franco’s: One of the First & Finest Italians in London

Franco’s is one of those restaurants that you can’t help but notice. Located on London’s notoriously high-end Jermyn Street, right around the corner from the Ritz, it sticks out like a glistening sore thumb...

22 Ships: Inventive Tapas From the Famous Atherton

Jason Atherton is well on his way to building a global restaurant empire and has now opened three restaurants in Hong Kong which, aside from 22 Ships, are Aberdeen Street Social (where I enjoyed a decent smashed avo on toast) and Ham & Sherry...

Aqua: Infinity Brunch With A View

Much like New York, Hong Kong is paving the way when it comes to boozy brunch offerings. Though London isn't doing too badly at playing catch-up, it’s still miles behind in terms of choice and value, with the best hotels and restaurants in Hong Kong offering, in many cases, unlimited...

Ho Lee Fook: Lucky Chinese Cats

The first night that Michael & Will were in Hong Kong it seemed only right that we eat Chinese food. Having been to Ho Lee Fook before I could vouch for the restaurant’s modern take on...

The Gate, Islington: Vegetarian Goodness

I can’t say that vegetarian restaurants are generally particularly high on my list to visit having had a mixed but overall good experience at Mildred’s and a shocking one at The Wild Food Cafe, but with The Gate’s recent prolonged moment in the spotlight, I thought it was worth giving a try...

Duck & Waffle: Birthday Dining in the Clouds

So this post is a little late to the game but better late than never. If you care to remember it was my birthday in June and I celebrated the day dining high in the sky at Duck & Waffle together with a handful of my favourite girls...

BRGR.CO, Soho: Burgers & Truffle Fries Galore

The best burger in London is a hotly contested topic. With commonly cited favourites including Bleecker St, Honest Burger, Patty & Bun, Byron, Shake Shack and Five Guys (did I miss any?), I thought it only fair to give BRGR.co its fair chance to reign among the champions...

Mango Tree: A Trip Down Thai Memory Lane

A while back now I took my friend Craig to Mango Tree for a fancy pants Thai meal. The Mango Tree in Belgravia actually happens to be the venue of Michael’s & my first ever "proper" date as girlfriend & boyfriend, and despite the fact that we got into such a heated argument about...

Lisbon: Sintra, A Real Life Lego Kingdom and Over-Indulgence at Olivier Avenida

Abi & I couldn’t have asked for a more magical final day. The sun was shining, we visited a Lego Kingdom and ate like Queens. Sintra is a hilltop village about a 30 minute drive out of Lisbon, and well worth the day trip, even if...

Lisbon: Yakuza {Where the Japanese Met Their Match}

Proudly wearing our hard-earned tourist medals post-full day of sightseeing, Abi & I headed to dinner at Yakuza. A fancy Japanese restaurant a little way out of town, we weren’t sure what to expect. However, the sterling Tripadvisor reviews helped put us at ease. And rightly so, because everything about our meal was...

Lisbon: Sunny Squares and Tasty Cows

Abi & I took advantage of the late May bank holiday weekend and squeezed in a fly-by trip to Lisbon to drink, eat and sight-see ourselves silly. Sunning ourselves brown had been high on the agenda too, but unfortunately the weather man had different ideas in mind and so a light ‘blush’ is all we had to show for our time in the southern European city.

Paradise Garage: Testing the Tasting Menu

It was a rather beautiful day in early May when a group of us visited Paradise Garage to celebrate William’s birthday.

Roka, Aldwych: Birthday Celebrations Han Setto Brunching

It’s become a bit of a family tradition to celebrate my birthday at Roka, Charlotte Street, having done so for the past 3 years and doing so again in just over a week (don’t worry, I am going to spare you from another review!). Seeing how fond I am of this tradition and my favourite London restaurant, it felt only natural to treat some of my closest friends to the same experience for their birthdays.

Chotto Matte: Nikkei-Peruvian Cuisine in an Unusual Setting

Chotto Matte has been right at the top of my list for a long while now, but when your favourite restaurant serves similar food at the same price just a few streets over, it’s easy for it to just stay at the top of that list.
